Sonora’s Pass

From the car park at the Sonora Pass (Highway 108), tourists have plenty of opportunities to explore, but for the greatest views and most spectacular scenery, it is worth hike five miles south of PCT from the parking lot. The trail begins with an ascent and eventually flattens out as you progress along the flank of Leavitt Peak, exposing hikers to stunning ridgeline and deep pools containing alpine lakes. How far you want to go is your choice, as the PCT continues south for another 1000 miles, but most hikers during the day can gain strength by walking five miles south of Sonora Pass and turning back and with great views along the way you will not be disappointed checking them again when you return.
